My First Blog. Hopefully!

The Sankofa bird (above) represents looking back in order to move forward, so before I move forward, I want to take a quick look at my feelings on term one.

I am grateful to have passed last terms course requirements, but also a little bit annoyed with myself, had I pushed myself a little harder I think I may have improved the grade. However, I also happily accept as they were all higher than I imagined I could achieve.

Now it's time to put into practice during term two the lessons from term one. I have a better understanding of my strengths and weaknesses, what a module is and how it works. I am familiar with some of the lecturers, other students and the campus buildings, so feel less overwhelmed as a result.

Going into higher education after such a long time away from the learning environment has not been a walk in the park. The use of technology seem to be the biggest difference and it is everywhere, from registering yourself in class, checking out a library book, to uploading the end of term assessments via Turnitin, technology is now an integrated part of the education system. It was a lot for me, especially as I don't take in as much information when reading from a screen as I do via an in hand physical book. As well as getting used to all things new, I was busy trying to sort out my finances, student disability assessments (which will take place this term) and taking on board the new timetable and classes.

Things to do:

Dyslexia Assessment

ADHD Assessment

Get a physical copy of the class books

Create a Mood board for new week

In the meantime my first blog is complete.

Happy blogging to me.
